I adore Stampin’ Up! Any one who knows me, or who reads my blog knows that. I always get excited about new products, but there is something special about our new “This and That” line that has me really fired up. Maybe it’s because I love the vintage/grunge look but find I am not very good at creating it, so when I have products that do all the work for me, I can get the look without the stress. Or Maybe it’s because recently I have had a renewed interest in my first papercrafting obsession, Scrapbooking and this gives me the perfect excuse to deal with some of my photos. Or maybe it’s because it has Washi tape, a fairly new Paper crafting product that I have been watching from the sidelines (with a tinge of jealousy in my eyes) because Stampin’ Up! did have any.
Perhaps its a combination of all those things. Or maybe I am am over analyzing it (as my husband would say I am ALWAYS guilty of that!). “This and That” IS a fantastic new line up for Stampin’ Up! and the Epic Day collection is uber hip, uber trendy and oh….so………. COOL!That being said, I actually got some time last night to sit down and play around a bit. I thought I would share with you how my cover looks at the moment.
I think I am pretty happy with it. Over time I may add something to it. I love that it is flexible and can be whatever I want it to be. I loved the hexagon shape (such a popular shape these days) that was already embossed on the cover. So I didn’t to cover it up fully. I cut hexagon out of the patterned paper that comes with the kit (on page already has them) but I did have to do some trimming to make them fit (how cool would a hexagon punch be right now?!?). Because I have decided that I will putting all my pictures and mementos from the Stampin’ Up! events I have attended in it, I used the “Love what you do, Share what you love” stamp that I purchased because I am a demonstrator from our supplies list. This was stamped with Stazon Black ink on a piece of DSP from the collection that I adhered to a piece of chipboard that I found lying around on my desk. I also added a few adhesive rhinestones for some bling. Because the colour palate for the Epic Day collection is Calypso Coral, Pool Pary, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green and Basic Grey, I thought I would hit my ribbon stash and add some texture. I used Daffodil Stitched Grosgrain, Very Vanilla Seam Binding and Pool Party ruffled ribbon both tied to the spin and under the tag. Oh and I can’t forget a little flower from the flower trim in the Spring Catty (love that stuff!). I also took some time and found all of my mementos from Leadership in Nashville & San Antonio and the Regional in Hamilton. I can’t wait to start “smashing” all this stuff in my new book!! I will share with you the progress, as well, I might even do a few videos for you

My This and That Epic Day Smashbook comes to life
Introducing This & That Product Bundle
I wanted to share something really exciting with you today. It’s called This & That. Its new. Its from Stampin’ Up! of course! First of all, I want to explain to you what it is, what it does and why you need to have it!
This and That is a new product line from Stampin’ Up! that will fully debut in the New Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalogue on June 1st, 2013. It’s a Smash book product line. It is super exciting.
Let me start out by explaining to you what a Smashbook is. Stated simply it is a way to capture memories and life moments. The concept comes from the roots of scrapbooking when people made simple memory books. They stuffed them full of memorabilia, photos and mementos. Scrapbooking has become a bit of an art form in recent years. Smash books combine Scrapbooking with keeping journals and will prove to be a quick and easy way of capturing what is going on in your life. You can quickly add journaling photos, and memorabilia on the fly. You simply “smash” it into your book.
I have to admit that I have been watching this trend from afar. However, seeing as I have so little time in my life these days (due to work, kids, life etc.) I really only get time to play with my Stampin’ Up! goodies. And seeing as I have so many of them, I rarely purchase other companies products, and lets face it, Stampin’ Up! is the best in the biz, so why would I shop any where else?? But now, I can join the Smash book craze too!!! Thank you SU!!
So without further ado, I am introducing you to the This and That product Bundle that is available BEFORE June 1st when the full product line is revealed!
This bundle is available as a group for only $40.67!!! And includes everything you see in the picture!!! A Journal, Stickers, Washi tape, Designer Series Paper and a new and VERY cool Rotary Stamp!! I will detail each of these items as I get a chance to play with them myself.

Digital Scrapbook Layout for PPA133
I used to play along with Pals Paper Arts Challenges weekly, but I haven’t done so in a very very long time. They had a sketch challenge this week, so I simple clicked on MDS to create my entry. As soon as I started playing with the sketch I knew it was destined to become a scrapbook layout instead of a card. Could have been because it was square, or maybe it was because I had some awesome new pictures of my kids and our new puppy that I was just dying to do something with. I made a girly version for my daughter first. Then all I had to do was swap out the paper, and voila! a boy version for my little guy.

Same exact layout, different results. What do you think? I love that once you have a layout in MDS, you can just swap out the options to suite your pictures, or your mood!

Introducing…..
This is a very exciting day for Stamp & Tea Studio. Today we are launching our very first Learning Series!!
I am very excited about this for a few reasons. First, I am going to be able to teach the basics of a number of Paper crafting areas, and secondly I am offering this amazing series as part of my first ever DEALFIND!!!
For the details on the Dealfind visit: www.dealfind.com and select Kitchener-Waterloo as your area. I am featured as the Deal of the day!! And don’t worry if you are not in K-W. As long as you are fine with driving to my studio, then you are eligible to purchase the deal! How amazing is that??
The Learning Series begins in April. Here is the full class listing for the Learning series:
Welcome to the Stamp & Tea Studio Learning Series. In this 4 part series you will learn the basics of some of the most popular Paper Crafting techniques. It is recommended that you attend the Stamping 101 class first, but it is not mandatory. A different class will be featured each month over a four month period. The learning series will repeat every 4 months.
Stamping 101
In this class you will learn the basics of stamping. By the end of this class you will have basic knowledge of a number of rubber stamping techniques such as basic stamping, Line art colouring, multi-coloured stamping, two-step stamping & wheels. You will get to use your newly acquired to skills to make 2 basic greeting cards with matching envelopes.
Card Making 101
This class will focus on Card Making. By the end of this class you will have basic knowledge of the principles of card making and learn the formula for perfect cards as well as standard card sizes. You will learn about layering, embossing, punches & embellishments. Each participant will make 2 cards with matching envelopes, using these techniques.
Scrapbooking 101
Scrapbooking is the art of preserving memories. The pictures of your life deserve to be treated like royalty and placing them in a scrapbook made with care is by far the best way to do this. In this class you will learn about layouts, photo cropping, matting, titles & journaling. You will then apply these skills to make 3 pages (6×6, 8 ½x11, 12×12).These layouts can be used independently or together to form a progressive page.
Gifts/Favours 101
Paper crafting is more than just card making & scrapbooking. In this class you will learn about creating coordinated party décor and gifts for all occasions. We will be using a die cutting machine for most of the projects. You will be making a simple favour box, a party banner and a gift card holder.
Visit my Events page for dates & times. RSVP to ensure a space as space for each class is limited.
Back to my roots…..
My paper crafting roots that is. For those of you who don’t know my “story”, it goes something like this…..
6 years ago my Husband, Daughter and I traveled to a tiny island in the Bay of Fundy called Grand Manan, New Brunswick (it’s between Maine, USA and Nova Scotia, Canada). We had a fantastic vacation and all of the 7 rolls of film (yes, I said rolls, it was before I had a digital camera) turned out AMAZING! I wanted to do something with the pictures that was nicer than just putting them in a standard photo album.
I had heard about scrapbooking, but didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I bought a book and started organizing my pictures in it. As I worked through the book I started wanting certain items to decorate it with, or an easier way to cut pictures, paper etc. I worked on the book very slowly, so slow in fact that it took about 3 years to complete it. But by the end I was hooked! With the birth of my son impending and a collection of thousands of pictures of my daughter, I looked to begin their books.
I contacted a local Creative Memories consultant to get my hands on some of their tools and books. I hosted a few parties for her, and even considered becoming a CM Consultant. And then my CM rep introducted me to Stampin’ Up!. I joined a 10 month club with out even seeing the products first hand, and it was love at first sight! I couldn’t get enough. That’s why I decided to become an SU Demo. I needed to recoup some of the money I had spend!! Yikes!! And I had spent a LOT!
So, that brings us to the project of the day: That’s right, I actually got a chance to do some scrapbooking this weekend!!!! It’s a true novelty for me these days. Between working full-time, building my SU business and chasing after two kids, I rarely have the time. I think some friends of mine and I are going to try and do a Scrapbooking retreat later this year. Any one know any good ones in Southern Ontario??
Anyhow, I had been surfing on Splitcoast Stampers lately and found a gallery of what they were calling “Progressive” pages. I was instantly attracted to the concept.
You start with a 6×6 layout. That’s it just concentrate on your 6×6 page. For that I built my title. It’s hard to tell by the picture but I stamped the “bubble” image from the new “Circle Circus” stamp set all over the background using my soon to be retired Pacific Point ink. Once you are done with your 6×6, you then adhere that to a 81/2 x 11 page. And now you complete that as a layout. So, on that layer I added some pictures, my first “wave” strip and a few embelishments. Once you are done with that you then adhere this new layout to a 12×12 page and complete your layout! I LOVED making a page this way, and it was much much quicker than my usual way of starting with a 12×12 and spending the next 2 hours figuring out what I am going to do with it, and then another 2 hours putting it all together. This one page took me only about 45 minutes from start to finish!!! I was amazed! I loved it because at any one time you only need to focus on a small portion of paper. You arn’t overwhelmed by too much blank space.
I will definately be building a class around this one in the future!
Oh, and by the way I am a cronological scrapbooker… my daughter is 1 in these pictures…. she’s 10 now!! I am very very behind!! But that’s okay… one day I will get caught up!
Oh, and speaking of becoming a Demonstrator, I became one when the starter kit was only $249 like it is right now. Guess what? The price is going up in the new catty. So….. if this is something you have been thinking about, contact me ASAP to join my fabulous team or visit this link to sign up directly and remember that the password is Canadian!!!

National Scrapbooking day layout by Donna
Good Morning everyone! It’s a bit chilly here in Toronto, but there is promise for the day.
I wanted to share with you a layout from my friend Donna, that she made for the make-and-take at my first ever all-day crop. How cute are her niece & nephew??? We were using products from the Occasions Mini. I love the stuff in that catalogue! As you can see, there is a strip from the ‘Walk in the Park’ Designer Series paper. Don’t forget that until the end of May you can get a FREE pack of DSP when you buy 3 others (includes textured cardstock packs too!). I do want to remind you as well, that a number of our designer papers have the “in colours” in them and therefore they will be retiring with the end of this catalogue in June, so now is a really really great time to stock up!

Finally scrapbooking again!!
I got back to my roots yesterday and worked on a layout for my daughter Kieran’s scrapbook. Since my card making obsession began about 6 months ago, and with Christmas and all, I have not been scrapbooking very much. I had a picture of Kieran, who is now almost 10, from when she was 13 months old and just walking (yes I am a chronological scrapbooker and am only at 13 months in her book!). It wasn’t a very good picture, and I only had the one, but I wanted to use it somehow. Here’s what I came up with:
It took me a while to get my groove on, but once I spent a bit of time looking through my supplies, I started to get into it. I found the round chipboard letters, which fit perfectly in the scallops in this awesome scalloped circle I had. I had picked up the foot ribbon a really long time ago and it just seemed to be a perfect fit. Some times things just work out. I guess you can make a good layout, out of a bad picture.
Stay tuned for tomorrow, where I will have two beautiful cards made using the French Script background stamp that I acquired a few weeks ago.
